Nancy O'Dell's initial position in the broadcasting industry was as a reporter/anchor at WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach South Carolina. She later worked as the morning news anchor as well as a the crime reporter at WCBD TV. O'Dell's articles in Charleston, about how the Charleston police acted in DUI cases in a manner that was lenient, resulted in an investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division.
